Much has happened in the past month of Premier League. Bolton beat Manchester City, Arsenal lost to Stoke City, Aston Villa, and Manchester City. Arsenal also beat Chelsea and Liverpool. Liverpool has become in the first place after Chelsea lost to Arsenal.

This is my opinion of which players played best this month.

Ballon D’ Or: Results

December 2, 2008
Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo

It has been officially announced that Manchester United and Portugal winger, Cristiano Ronaldo, is the new winner of the Ballon D’ or (world player of the year). This is not surprising considering Ronaldo had 42 goals in his 49 appearances for Manchester United, eight goals in the euro 08 qualifying and one in the euro 08 tournament after qualifying. He had a terrific season.

Lionel Messi won second place and Fernando Torres won a close third.

I personally feel Torres’ results and statistics are much better than Messi’s, but Messi might have more individual skill

Premier League: Merciful Chelsea

December 1, 2008
Baffled Scolari

Baffled Scolari

This season started off excellent for Chelsea. They were playing excellent football and winning by large margins. Then came all of the injuries. These injuries included Ashley Cole, Joe Cole, John Terry (for a bit), Drogba, Deco, Ballack, Essien, and even Cech was injured for a little bit. They lost to Liverpool in a high pressure, low goal game. They continued to play well but lost the fortress that Stamford Bridge was. Then the next step to their downward spiral was when they played Roma in the Champions League. This should have been an easy fixture as they had already beaten them and Roma was on a big losing streak. The manager was in threat of losing his job. And i don’t know why, but Chelsea loses to any team that is on the verge of collapse. I do not know if the teams try harder and Chelsea got unlucky to play them, but that’s what happens. They lost to Roma 3-1. From then they did not have their flair. Ballack and Deco came back to become regular starters, but they lost their initial dominance on the pitch. Ballack has not been as aggresive, nor has been as big of a help as he usually is in penetrating the oppositions defense. Deco has not been as consistent as he was, not making creative passes, nor good shots. Chelsea tied Bordeux in the Champions league and then they lost to Arsenal. Arsenal is a team that lost to Aston Villa, Manchester City, Stoke City, Hull City, and Fulham just this season. Chelsea were winning 1-0 and then at half time they thought they were hot shots and they allowed Arsenal to play better, even if Vanpersie’s goal was offsides. I feel that it was also a little bit of Scolari’s fault because Chelsea came out with a defensive mind set in the second half (which in my opinion is always bad unless you are two goals up. because henever you play defensive you lose your momentum and it takes one slip up of the defense and then you are tied without momentum and the other team has plenty of momentum and excitement from equalizing.)

Chelsea upsets me sometimes.

Premier League: Chelsea

Adriano

Adriano

_There have been rumors that Inter are keen to buy Didier Drogba. Chelsea have made it clear that they want 40 million Euros (Over priced much???) and Inter still want to buy him. It is rumored that Inter will give Chelsea 40 mil euros. Inter are rumored to be ok with that price and are planning to sell the unhappy Adriano, Hernan Crespo, and Mario Balotelli (who is also reportedly unhappy at Inter). Adriano and Balotelli are both Chelsea targets.

Good or bad for Chelsea?

Well I personally feel that: 1. Didier Drogba is too old and past his prime.

2. it would be retarded to buy him for 40 million euros

3. it would be retarded to NOT to sell him if someone wanted him for 40 million euros.

4. Adriano is better and younger

5. Mario Balotelli is a very promising prospect.

So yes i think it would be good for Chelsea if this whole deal went down. If Chelsea could get Balotelli and Adriano that would be excellent. Chelsea need at least another striker especially if they are to sell Drogba. Their only other option is Nicolas Anleka. Anelka, don’t get me wrong, is in excellent form…. but he is 29 and reaching his peak. You can not count on more than two solid years on him. Chelsea’s only other real option at the moment is the 19 year old Franco Di Santo who is just not ready yet. Adriano, in my opinion, would be a perfect replacement and might even work well with anelka. It would just bring Chelsea more options. Balotelli would be an excellent bonus, and i think he would become a legend in premier league if he was only given the opportunity.

Uefa Cup: Milan vs. Portsmouth

November 27, 2008

Portsmouth took a 2-0 lead through goals from Kanu and kaboul. Milan came back with a 84th minute Ronaldinho free kick and then a goal from Inzaghi in added minutes allowed Milan to end the game with a tie.

Uefa Cup: Tottenham vs. NEC

November 27, 2008

Harry Redknapp seems to have really turned things around for Tottenham. It was not domination by any means but it is in the right direction for the spurs. jamie O’hara scored the only goal.

Uefa Cup: Manchester City vs. Schalke

November 27, 2008

Manchester proved too good for German side Schalke today in the Uefa Cup. A Goal from Benjani and another from Ireland secured City’s 2-0 win. Benjani had an excelent season last year, but failed to impress this season while stephen Ireland is showing to be one of the most promising attacking midfielders of Premier League.

Manchester City has good momentum building (they beat Arsenal 3-0 las t weekend) and they take on Manchester united this weekend.
