Premier League: Merciful Chelsea

Baffled Scolari

Baffled Scolari

This season started off excellent for Chelsea. They were playing excellent football and winning by large margins. Then came all of the injuries. These injuries included Ashley Cole, Joe Cole, John Terry (for a bit), Drogba, Deco, Ballack, Essien, and even Cech was injured for a little bit. They lost to Liverpool in a high pressure, low goal game. They continued to play well but lost the fortress that Stamford Bridge was. Then the next step to their downward spiral was when they played Roma in the Champions League. This should have been an easy fixture as they had already beaten them and Roma was on a big losing streak. The manager was in threat of losing his job. And i don’t know why, but Chelsea loses to any team that is on the verge of collapse. I do not know if the teams try harder and Chelsea got unlucky to play them, but that’s what happens. They lost to Roma 3-1. From then they did not have their flair. Ballack and Deco came back to become regular starters, but they lost their initial dominance on the pitch. Ballack has not been as aggresive, nor has been as big of a help as he usually is in penetrating the oppositions defense. Deco has not been as consistent as he was, not making creative passes, nor good shots. Chelsea tied Bordeux in the Champions league and then they lost to Arsenal. Arsenal is a team that lost to Aston Villa, Manchester City, Stoke City, Hull City, and Fulham just this season. Chelsea were winning 1-0 and then at half time they thought they were hot shots and they allowed Arsenal to play better, even if Vanpersie’s goal was offsides. I feel that it was also a little bit of Scolari’s fault because Chelsea came out with a defensive mind set in the second half (which in my opinion is always bad unless you are two goals up. because henever you play defensive you lose your momentum and it takes one slip up of the defense and then you are tied without momentum and the other team has plenty of momentum and excitement from equalizing.)

Chelsea upsets me sometimes.

what do you think?

Cesc Fabregas

Cesc Fabregas named new Arsenal captain. The 21 year old midfielder was named skipper after Arsene Wenger stripped the captaincy from France veteran, William Gallas.

Gallas recently had a bad press stint and Arsenal has been in a bad from run for a few weeks.

Arsenal up in tatters?

Whats up with Arsenal? They lost 3-0 against Manchester city, last week they lost 2-0 against Aston Villa, three weeks ago they lost 2-1 against Stoke. (however, in between these weeks they beet Manchester united 2-1).

William Gallas was stripped of his captaincy and Darren Bent announced that during their 4-4 tie there was a lot of arguing and tension between the Arsenal players.

Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, and Gallas need some serious patching up to do, fast.

Wenger, Genious or Rookie?

This year Arsenal might have thier youngest squad ever. In the Carling Cup games (in which they dominated so far) they have put out the youngest squads the premier league have seen. They have players like Vela, Bendtner, Nasri, Wilshere, Simpson, not to mention Walcott (maybe England’s most promising prospect). But they have been sluggish in the premier league, having ammassed four losses (chelsea and liverpool only have one and man u only have two) and they have the smalles goal difference out of all of the big four. They are tied with Aston Villa for fourth.

How do you think this season will turn out for Arsenal and do you think Arsenal need to think about signing more experienced players in January?
