Premier League: Merciful Chelsea

December 1, 2008
Baffled Scolari

Baffled Scolari

This season started off excellent for Chelsea. They were playing excellent football and winning by large margins. Then came all of the injuries. These injuries included Ashley Cole, Joe Cole, John Terry (for a bit), Drogba, Deco, Ballack, Essien, and even Cech was injured for a little bit. They lost to Liverpool in a high pressure, low goal game. They continued to play well but lost the fortress that Stamford Bridge was. Then the next step to their downward spiral was when they played Roma in the Champions League. This should have been an easy fixture as they had already beaten them and Roma was on a big losing streak. The manager was in threat of losing his job. And i don’t know why, but Chelsea loses to any team that is on the verge of collapse. I do not know if the teams try harder and Chelsea got unlucky to play them, but that’s what happens. They lost to Roma 3-1. From then they did not have their flair. Ballack and Deco came back to become regular starters, but they lost their initial dominance on the pitch. Ballack has not been as aggresive, nor has been as big of a help as he usually is in penetrating the oppositions defense. Deco has not been as consistent as he was, not making creative passes, nor good shots. Chelsea tied Bordeux in the Champions league and then they lost to Arsenal. Arsenal is a team that lost to Aston Villa, Manchester City, Stoke City, Hull City, and Fulham just this season. Chelsea were winning 1-0 and then at half time they thought they were hot shots and they allowed Arsenal to play better, even if Vanpersie’s goal was offsides. I feel that it was also a little bit of Scolari’s fault because Chelsea came out with a defensive mind set in the second half (which in my opinion is always bad unless you are two goals up. because henever you play defensive you lose your momentum and it takes one slip up of the defense and then you are tied without momentum and the other team has plenty of momentum and excitement from equalizing.)

Chelsea upsets me sometimes.

what do you think?

Premier League Derby: London!

November 27, 2008

This weekend not only is there the Manchester derby, but also a London Derby. Not any London derby, but one between two of the big four: Chelsea vs. Arsenal.

Arsenal have been in poor form lately, they has their captain stripped of his position and a bad press stint. There was supposedly many dressing room fights. Arsenal lost to Aston Villa and Manchester City in their last two games.

Chelsea are not in the best of form themselves right now. They tied Newcastle United last weekend and they tied Bordeux in the Champions League. This puts Chelsea in a vulnerable position because to qualify, now, for the Champions League they must beat Cluj (who they tied last time).

My prediction Chelsea 2-0 Arsenal

WTF?

Dider Drogba

Dider Drogba

That was one of the most depressing displays I have seen from Chelsea since Avram Grant was in charge. Also what is the deal with Drogba? Why does he suck so bad? and if he sucks so bad then why did Scolari put him in the game instead of the inform Anelka who got on the score board?

Scolari stated after the game that he is very disappointing with the result and that if Chelsea do not qualify for the Champions league (make it past the group stages) he will go back to Brazil.
